I want to try out some cable patterns without making a whole big project from all of them, so I’m planning to make a collection of swatches to frame for my craft room (and maybe elsewhere in the house, depending on how they turn out).

This is Pattern #33 (Fancy Double O) from Norah Gaughan’s Knitted Cable Sourcebook.

For this swatch, I’m not adding a garter stitch border. Instead, I’m trying the edging used in the swatches/samples in the book, as described by the author herself in this forum post.

I had to go back and fix mistakes in my border a few times, because I kept forgetting to purl across.

I also had a moment of confusion because the switch from 2-over-2 to 2-over-1 cables threw my brain for a loop.

I’m pretty sure I knitted an extra couple of rounds at one “restful” part of the pattern. (Distracted by the TV!)

This isn’t a particularly difficult pattern, but I just couldn’t stay as focused as I should have, sometimes.
