My center spine stitches stretched out so much when blocking they looked awful, and the lacy rows didn’t give at all, so when I held this up it puckered like crazy and the border seemed tighter than the rest of the shawl because these pattern stitches have much less give than a fabric of straight stitching. For the spine, I would not crochet only in the back or front loop in the center stitches. There’s just too much weight there and it made a mess (see the pictures).

I frogged this because I couldn’t get it to lay nicely when worn and I didn’t want to waste this beautiful yarn on something I wouldn’t wear.

Beautiful swirly shawl pin from Leslie Wind.
