Notes

Making this sweater using the Cable and Ladder stitch pattern from Barbara G. Walker’s book A Second Treasury of Knitting Patterns.

I fell in love with this stitch pattern the first time I saw it. I’m centering the pattern repeats by putting the repeat break in the center of the back and front - I think this will give it a better place for the v-neck on the front.

I had to change row 1 of the pattern stitch to end with a purl stitch, not a knit stitch as it makes the pattern unbalanced.

5 pattern repeats and 7 more rows before starting to shape the armholes. Finished the armhole shaping after working row 8 of pattern stitch.

V-neck option. Forgot to do the short row shaping on the front.

Increasing on V-neck every 4th row for all 19 increases to lower the neckline.

After joining under the armhole I added 8 stitches in the center of the armholes. On the next 2 right side rows I added one stitch on each side of the markers that are in the center of the armhole. There are now enough stitches to have 16 complete pattern repeats.

15” from armhole to bottom edge.

06-19-2017

84 stitches in the sleeves.

Repeat pattern 1.5 times before starting decreases.

06-21-2017

Decreases on row 4.

Work 7 decreases and finish pattern - row 8. Half sleeves.
