This is my first time using no colour colours and I am much happier with it than I expected to be.
I had a very limited amount of MC and all my 6 balls were used up.
I bought one extra ball to make this work, but it was not the same shade/colour as my MC so I made the yoke one more colour. This yoke starts with white instead of the darkest colour and has five waves instead of four, in part to accommodate the yarn amounts, but I also think it looks good.
I did not leave out even one single row of the chart, instead I added short rows. My yoke is longer than the biggest size due to the short rows, but the total number of waves is the same as in the pattern.
I am happy ❤️

The Beginning
January 25, 2016
Starting with a sleeve:
co 42 sts, 20 rows of ribbing.
Increase interval: every 8th row => 66 sts.
Sleeve length: 51 cm.
All knit with MC, no colour work.
January 28-29, 2016
The very colourful picture is from the morning stretching and singing session between the very inspirational talks at the Annual Swedish Waldorf Teacher Summit 2016 and the general view from my knitting position.
# swlm16
The first sleeves first ball made 41 cm.
I managed to knit a sleeve and a half over the course of the two days of seminars, connecting and reconnecting with the many wonderful Waldorf teachers all the while.
I also saw a nice Birki in the crowds, obviously I caught up with him and we had a lovely chat about lopi yarn, Icelandic sweater making, short row shaping and we laughed about the fact that my MC (knitting in hand, naturally) was the same colour as his main CC!
I love that my sleeves have been infused with all the inspirational words on pedagogy and general heartfelt hubbub of the festivities.
January 31, 2016
The sleeves are done!
16 grams remain of the third ball.
February 1, 2016
Body begun.
Tubular CO 188 sts.
One-by-one rib.
5 rows.
February 2, 2016
First ball of body gave 10cm from cast on edge.
February 3, 2016
Second ball of body gave 23cm from cast on edge.
February 4, 2016
The body is only 33 cm, let’s see if I will like that in the long run.
The yoke is begun.
February 5, 2016
First short row of yoke after row 6.
Second short row after row 14 - over the sleeves.
Third short row after row 22, also long, longer than the previous.
Reached row 26 - realised that “No I am not happy enough”.
Ripping out time.
February 6, 2016
Short row placement same as before.
This is not going perfectly smoothly, but I am happy that I rip out due to a better idea, rather than tidies mistakes.
I also watched the very last two episodes of Downton Abbey - ah happy sigh.
February 7, 2016
Forth short row after row 26. Only across the back.
Fifth short row after row 30, long - a bit beyond the sleeves.
Sixth short row after row 36.
Seventh short row after row 37 - longest so far.
At 40 - not happy with the yoke depth. I did not realise that this yoke is so shallow. I am ripping it out, all the way to the very first row.
The pic where I am wearing the wip is before I ripped it out.
Starting over.
This time the colour progression will be with five colours instead of four.
First short row after row 6, over the back stitches.
Second short row after row 14, over the sleeves.
Third short row after row 22, over the sleeves + 5.
February 8, 2016
Forts short row after row 31, over the sleeves + 10.
Fifth short row after row 34, across the back.
Sixth short row after row 38, across the back.
February 9, 2016
Seventh short row after the last decrease round of the chart, only across the shoulders, not going beyond the top of the sleeve. Left out the last decreases (in the text) bound off with I-cord BO.
There is seriously no MC left.
All the ends are woven in, a good wash in the washing machine - and now drying.

I wore it to work today, great feeling!
