12/11/11: Since I finished this, Frodo let my husband put him in the sweater without a fuss and he apparently wore it for half an hour (while I was out running errands, so I missed it!) While deciding what to do with the hoodie, I left it out on the couch I do my knitting on, and everytime I came in the room Frodo was laying on it. So I decided to leave it out, let him get comfortable with it, so he’ll let us put it on him again.
My husband suggested that before we have a photo shoot, that I add a dragon to it. That’s because Frodo loves dragons -- everytime one of us is playing a video game that has dragons, Frodo comes running and is mesmerized, lol. So yesterday I used duplicate stitch to add some fire-breathing dragons. Maybe tonight will be the night we finally get some pictures!
I had a lot of fun knitting this, because it’s very quick and I tried some new things. I used Magic Loop, cable-cast-on in the middle of a row and Jeny’s Super-Stretchy Bind-Off, all for the first time ever.
I just used one color/yarn, and I did not knit the sleeves, although I may go back and add them. That is, if my cat ever lets me get near him with the hoodie again -- he didn’t like it. He stayed in it for about 2 minutes before figuring out how to pull himself out of it. I think he’ll come around though. He’ll have to try it on at least one more time, so I can get a picture at least!
I may re-knit this, making just a couple changes. Frodo, my cat, is short-haired and while he’s fat, the narrowest part of his body is his shoulders and chest. So my hoodie did not fit perfectly. It could have stood to be knit using probably a 9 or even 8 needle. I also would change the way I did m1 -- I did a standard m1 using the bar between 2 stitches, and I didn’t like the holes. My picked up stitches around the hood and neck weren’t quite as neat as I’d have liked them either,
