CAST ON:
I had to attempt the wind on provisional cast on more times than I would like to count. I tried countless YouTube tutorials but they were all slightly different, and a lot of them were just plain unhelpful.

When all is said and done just use the link that Åsa Tricosa has on the pattern page. The pictures and the explanation are as straight forward as them come.

I did not keep my loose stitches on a stitch holder or on the cable of the needles I was using. Instead, I took a separate cable and placed them on their. My Addi interchangeables come with a metal cable connection piece so I just locked the cable to itself so that the stitches wouldn’t fall off. This has left the bottom of the garment separate from my needles so that knitting is MUCH easier.

CHART A and B:
Chart A is fairly straightforward and doesn’t seem to have any mistakes. The pattern is a little tricky to ‘memorize’ but once you’ve done one or two repeats it becomes much easier to anticipate the next stitch or to keep track of where you are. Normally I wouldn’t say this but the stitch markers are REALLY vital in this pattern. They make the whole experience a million times easier.

CHART C:
The mesh itself is fairly easy, it’s just a huge pain if you drop a stitch. I’ve memorized little tricks to keep count of where I am. As an example, I know that if I’m right above a cluster of stiches that were recently purled together than I should be doing a YO, k1, YO. If I’m at this point and not directly above that cluster than I know I’m off… better yet, I know my mistake is somewhere within the last few stiches since the last P3tog line up was correct. -- I’ve caught quite a few forgotten YOs this way.

BEADING FOR CHART C:
I decided to place beads wherever there is a P3tog. I’ve seen different variations of this throughout Ravelry and decided personally I wanted one bead on each stich knitted together for the P3tog. It gives a nice cluster of three beads and adds a lot of sparkle to the garment.

Please note!!!!
The very first bead (or three) technically are placed in chart B. That’s where the first P3tog is.

CHART D/E:
The beadwork continues throughout the mesh in these two charts. Truthfully, by this point following the pattern is MUCH easier since it’s been established and is already through the entirety of the piece. I don’t think adding a few extra repeats of cart E would take anything away from the piece.

CHART F:
Super simple - just a garter type stich… but read the pattern through! I made the mistake of assuming it was just knit every side… that isn’t the case!

EDGING -- CHARTS G/H/I:
The last three charts for the edging are fairly simple. I placed beads throughout chart I in the section where you have K2tog, YO/YO, SSK, K2tog, YO/YO ect… I placed a bead on each K2tog and SSK. It makes the scallops hang really nicely and it really connects the mesh to the edge work.

BIND OFF:
I personally went with the knitted bind off and I love how it turned out. The pattern calls for a bead every third stitch… I think if I were to do this again I might make it every second stitch… though I suspect I would end up cursing myself half way through. :)

On to the second half!

Second half went smoothly. I can see the change in color at the middle since it’s hand-dyed yarn… so if you’re a perfectionist I wouldn’t recommend using yarn that isn’t one solid even color. Blocking was a little bit of a challenge. I had problem getting the arcs rounded, so I ended up giving them points instead.
