Aug. 26th: I have knitted the four cm ribbing and ended by knitting together the cast on row and the last row (no seaming for me, thanks). Now to the fun part :) I plan on knitting it entirely in the round since I have not found a very good reason not to.
Aug. 27th: Rnd. 13. I find it strange, that the pattern is not supposed to line up after the increases at rnd. 5, but I am sure nobody will notice once done. It is a very beatiful pattern - looks almost like a sunset at the moment, and the WS is almost as nice as the RS.
Aug. 20th: Rnd. 20
Sep. 2nd: Rnd. 39 - The garment is so much more beautiful IRL!
Sep. 5th: Rnd. 45, 344 sts
Sep. 6th: Rnd. 49
Sep. 9th: Rnd. 55, 385 sts
Sep. 11th: Finished the yoke, 408 sts
Sep. 17th: 4 cm below underarm. Beginning decreases. I plan on using theyarniad’s modifications as a guideline.
Sep. 26th: Have done decreases on every 5th round 13 times (252 sts).
Decreases:
1: 300 sts.
2: 296 sts.
3: 292 sts.
4: 288 sts.
5: 284 sts.
6: 280 sts.
7: 276 sts.
8: 272 sts.
9: 268 sts.
10: 264 sts.
11: 260 sts.
12: 256 sts.
13: 252 sts.
Knit 5 cm (2”) straight
I knit increases every 5th rnd 7 times.
Increases:
1: 256 sts
2: 260 sts
3: 264 sts
4: 268 sts
5: 272 sts
6: 276 sts
7: 280 sts
Oct. 10th: I am trying it on as I go. I think I will end up knitting 6 cm before I start the ribbing or turned hem… Haven’t decided on that yet…
Edit. Feb. 24th: Oh well, I ended up with a turned - ribbed - hem. Had to rip my very well made sewn BO and it took like forever. But I am so pleased with the end result.
I knit about 4 inches of ribbing before turning the hem and sewing it to the WS.
Oct. 27th: Knitting the first sleeve. Top down in the round.
Feb. 16th: Ravelympics - I need to knit the second sleeve to finish the sweater.
My sleeves (knitted in the round on needle size 2,5 mm - ribbing on size 2 mm):
The live stitches was 102 and then I PO 8 sts = 120 sts.
Then: (knit 2 rnds stst, 1 rnd decreases) x 2 (I now had 116 sts left, since I made 2 decreases per decrease round. 1 decreased one stitch on each side of the middle stitch under the arm).
Then 1 rnd. of stst.
Then 1 decrease rnd on every 10th round 8 times like this:
1-9. rnd: stst
10. rnd: 1 decrease on each side of the middle stitch under the arm.
Then 1 decrease on every 8th round 12 times like this:
1-7. rnd: stst
8. rnd: 1 decrease on each side of the middle stitch under the arm.
I now had 74 sts.
Then knit 50 rnds stst.
Decrease rnd: k4, k2tog, k8, (k2tog, k7) 5 times, k2tog, k8, k2tog, k3
Knit about 4 inches of ribbing before turning the hem and sewing it to the WS.
I reached the finish line the 25th of february 2010!
Amount of yarn used for the yoke:
248: 2 g
327: 10 g
