I wanted to make some smaller baskets for Christmas so decided to use this pattern but make it smaller. I had to make a sample for myself before I made the Christmas ones so I used Red Heart Fiesta in Wheat and Meadow. The rest I tried to use Christmas colors (reds & greens) with Red Heart Fiesta in Soft White as the MC.

I only went up to 48 stitches (through R4) and then worked the sides. So the liner went like this:
R1-4 (48 sts)
R5 (pattern R7) front loop only (not necessary but made the outer edge sharper)
R6 (pattern R8) thru R9 (pattern R11)
So basically, I skipped the pattern R5 & 6 and 12-14 and only did 9 total rounds.

For the outer part:
MC: R1-4 (48 sts)
MC: R5 (pattern R7)
CC: R6 (pattern R8)
MC: R7 (pattern R9)
CC: R8 (pattern R10)
MC: R9 (pattern R11)
CC: R10 (pattern R12)
MC: R11 (pattern R13)
CC: R12 (pattern R14)
MC: R13 (pattern R19)

Then insert the liner and with MC:
R14 (pattern R20)
R15 (pattern R21): sc in first 5, ch8, skip 8 sc, sc in next 16 sts, ch 8, skip 8 sc, sc in last 11 sts.
R16 (pattern R22)
R17-18 (pattern R23-24)

These little cuties came out to about 4-1/4” tall x 4-1/4” across.
