Update: The hat was machine washed and dried … and it shrunk :(

I asked my daughter no fewer than a dozen times if she wanted me to knit any gifts for her friends and received the same “no” answer every time. Just today she asked if I could make a Detroit Red Wings hat for her BF ---- by Friday. Oye.

Done! Looks just like this hat. I love the hemmed edge.

Knit 1 rnd
Switch to 4mm ndl and k 24 rnds.
P 2 rnds
Switch to 4.5mm ndl and k 3 rnds
Switch to red and k 18 rnds
Switch to white and k 2-3 rnds
Join provisional CO to live sts, creating a wide hem.
K 2 rnds
Switch to 4mm ndl and k 13 rnds
K13, CDD, repeat
Work decreases eor until 12 sts remain.
