Following along with the sock-a-month group. :o)

This may be some tough, scritchy wool but it will be incredibly warm and long-wearing (and will always be worn OVER socks that are thin and soft!).

The yarn was originally going to be used for gift scarves but after I wrapped a nearly-completed one around my neck, I couldn’t get that thing off my skin fast enough!

BEAUTIFUL to look at, though. =) It’s definitely not going to waste.

Daughter 3 is knitting her first pair of socks using this same pattern.

01-07-2013: Finished second sock today and CO for the first sock ;o) (just read on the sock-a-month forum somewhere that Stephanie Pearl-McPhee??? said that??? so funny!!!). The first sock has never been the problem so I like the ‘start with the second sock first’ idea.

Size 6 bamboo dpn’s + aran weight yarn = 20 sts to 4 inches.

5” K2P2 cuff before the 4 rounds of stockinette

K2P2 cuff has 8 rows MC then 3 C2 then 1 MC then 3 C2 then continued with main color for rest of sock.

01-12-2013: Finished the foot armor! These softened up a bit with blocking. Really want to try toe-up socks soon.

01-14-2013: Note to self- don’t be lazy next time and dig out the elastic thread to knit into the cuffs!!!

03-21-2013: Update- been hiking several times in slushy snow and rain and these boot socks are AWESOME! Felted slightly after washing a couple times but they are more comfortable than ever. Heel and ball of foot are both going strong- no worn spots yet. Will be knitting several more pair with the Kerry Woollen Mills Aran.
