I made the 44” size with a V-neck, plus a little A-line shaping in the body. I didn’t intend the cardigan to close completely, though, so didn’t add buttons.

Added some reinforcement detailing - a chained side seam as per Elizabeth Zimmerman (drop down a stitch at the side and loop back up with a crochet hook, grabbing two threads each time) and some chain stitch worked tightly across the back of the neck.

I originally tried a 3x1 ribbing for the front bands (which you can see in one of the photos) but it curled stubbornly, even though 3x1 ribbing always behaves well for me as a hem. Then I tried a 2x2 ribbing, which I couldn’t get to lie flat, so finally gave up on ribbing and went with trusty garter stitch which makes an excellent band.

I got the main colour for only $9.50 ($1/skein!) at Woolfest in 2017, but then spent $48 on the contrast colours ha ha ha. All good though, I love Outlaw Yarns and I’m really pleased with how the stripes came out.
