Notes

Basic fingerless mitts for my brother. I dyed this yarn especially for the project; it’s leftover undyed stock from my dyer-days :)

No specific pattern, just:

  • German twisted cast on, 48 stitches
  • 12 rounds 2x2 rib
  • 20 rounds garter rib (alternating knit rounds and k2,p2 rounds)
  • Start a thumb gusset with M1R and M1L around one knit column, continue increasing at the edges of the thumb every second round nine times
  • 3 more rounds after last increase, then put 20 thumb stitches on holder
  • Resume garter rib, casting on 2 stitches in thumb gap
  • 8 rounds garter rib
  • 8 rounds 2x2 rib
  • EZ’s sewn bind off
  • Thumb stitches back on needles, pick up 6 in the gap
  • Knit three rounds with two decreases in each, one plain round, then 4 rounds 2x2 rib & EZ’s sewn bind off again

Sizing seems about right for an Adult L/XL, I had my husband try them on and it was fine so they’re in the mail!
