Notes

11.24.12
I realized once I’d already bought this pattern that it was for “intermediate” knitters. Unfortunately, I am not an intermediate knitter.
Boo: In the 10 (?) hours of working on them I have had to frog the project 7 times.
Yay: Apparently the 8th time is a charm. I’ve finally managed to figure out how to “M1”, “C4B”, “C4F”, & work with this damn tiny yarn… I think.

11.25.12
Yay: I’m making progress and my cables were approved by my knitting teacher!!
Boo: Another 6 hours and I hardly feel like I’m making any progress.

11.28.12
Boo: I messed up. I dropped a couple stitches and didn’t catch it for seven rows. Seven rows of itty bitty stitches. Pure insanity and another 4 hours down.
Yay: I was listening to an interview with Margaret Radcliffe on KnitPicks today and she said that messing up and having to start over “gives you more bang for your buck”. This yarn is currently full of bang.

11.30.12
Yay: I have a gusset pinned off and ready for me to finish. Also, going back and re-knitting allowed me to knit looser so it’s (somewhat) easier to work with.
Boo: At this rate it will be summer before they’re done.

12.06.12
Yay: I finally bound off of the first mitt yesterday! Loralee (my knitting teacher) helped with the addition of the thumb and (strangely) it’s my favorite part because it bumps up the technicality of the whole thing.

12.10.12
Yay: I sat down and worked on this project for quite a few hours yesterday and was AMAZED at how much more quickly this second mitt was progressing. No endless rounds of frogging.
Boo: Today was the first day of the Arkansas winter that I actually needed mitts and I had nothing to show.

12.11.12
Yay: I am 7-ish rounds from being done.
Boo: I JUST realized that I have made two right handed mitts.
Cussing: Yes.
Feeling like a failure: Yep.
Wishing for the first time I had been born with two right hands: Oh, yeah.

12.12.12
Yay: After a trip to Mockingbird Moon yesterday, where I learned about the awesomenesss of true frogging versus tinking 40 cabled and gussetted rows, I got back on track. Like- 90% finished again “back on track”. Super grateful for my local yarn shop!!

12.13.12
I finished yesterday and I’m super pumped on how they turned out. Happy Christmas to me!
