Knitting toe up.
German short row toe over 68 sts using this page for the pattern. (11|12|11)
Knit onto DPNs. Knit one rnd to circs, increasing 4 times. 72 sts.
Begin chart with gray as CC (orange) and white as MC (black).
I somehow managed to miss some stitches or something with the toe, but it looks fab so I’m gonna go with it. Side effect of learning something new.
German Short Row Boomerang Heel 11|14|11
20 rnds of 2/2 rib. Kitchener BO.
So, I am mixed on this heel. I like the whole Boomerang heel thing (it’s very similar to how the FLK heel is worked) but I’m not sure I love it with German Short Rows. The side where I work the double st with the RS facing ended up with some extra space between the stitches. Not quite gaps but like there is extra length in the yarn behind the two sts, kind of like the extra space when switching from a purl to a knit that leads to loose sts. Pulling really tight helps that space go down to an acceptable level, but I don’t like the tension that creates on my needles and in my hands as I pull the yarn so hard. Shadow Wraps are still my favorite.
I do wish I had enough black to do the toes, cuffs AND heels, but I do not. Oh well.
Skeins were apparently a bit heavier than the label indicated (yay!) because the socks weigh 93.2g and I have 2.5g left of black, 13.1g left of orange. This make more than 100g.
