OMG, that picture of me. So long ago! This yarn is reclaimed from my school uniform sweater the year I was in Japan. It was not a flattering sweater but I kept it for sentimental reasons. Then, it developed holes. Now I shall attempt to make something more flattering but with all the same memories of my old sweater!

Swatching, baby. A necessary evil.
Gauge: US2.5 = 26 sts/4” & 17 rows/2”
Aiming For: Back of neck = 7” Raglan length = 8.5” Sleeve circumference = 13.75”(maybe 14”) Chest circumference: 35”

Every RS row = 8 increases (Kfb), every other RS adds 2 increases at neckline.
Next time, try 40% of the back number for the sleeve cast on. I always have to increase the arms more than the torso. I’m guessing it is due to my rather broad shoulders.

Started the ribbing for the hem and meh, it looked horrid. For once, I think a rolled hem is going to be the way to go. I think it will fit better with the overall feel this sweater will have.

Things looked really meh after finishing the body so I blocked it while I considered my options. Fully prepared to frog, I finally tried it on and it’s actually looking very good. I need to redo the bottom - start the ribbing about 4 or 5 rounds sooner and continue it for twice the previous length while thinking tight-knitting thoughts - but other than that, I’m pretty pleased. Yeah, I still have a few wonky stitches but I’m thinking a more aggressive block should deal with those few spots. Or adjusting tension by hand, if it comes down to it.
Next up: redo hem, neckline, sleeves, wear!

Doing a twisted rib with backwards purls in a US2 while thinking tight knitting thoughts for the hem. This is making the ribbing look quite tight and neat. 8 rounds of ribbing, 5 rounds of stockinette. BO.

Finished sewing in ends just in time for fireworks! Now I have to block and photograph. Whee!
