I discovered that one of the cats ate one of the earbuds of my headphones. I bought a new set of headphones and felt compelled to protect them. Thus, Headphone Whale.

I didn’t have any 3.0mm DPNs on hand (filthy thieves), and only had one 3.0mm circular, so I used two 2.75mm circs instead, knowing I typically have to go down a needle size to get gauge. This pattern did not provide a gauge measurement though…

What I ended up with is a bit small for my headphones, given that they have that microphone remote thingy attached. Next time I make this (and there will be a next time) I will experiment with going up a couple needle sizes and/or using worsted weight yarn to make the whale a bit bigger.

The whole project from start to finish took about 4 hours.
