Notes

Socks #2. Plain pattern so I can experiment with a smaller needle than socks#1.

This yarn is thicker than my first socks yarn and coupled with the smaller needle, these are very stiff. As long as they fit, this should help with wear. Gauge seems to be 15 stitches/2 inches, even with the 2 mm needle.

2.0 mm needle (US 0)
60 stitches
88th row start heel
15 rows after final heel round
Increase 4 and start 2x2 rib.
After 32 rows rib, increase 4.

63 grams left.

Knit to 9.25 inches (88 rows after toe increase rows) then start heel. An inch more than mine.

Second sock - ended at row 78.5 - waiting for recipient to try the first one on to see if it is too long. That’s a better fit, so I’ll unwind from the toe on sock #1 and remove 10 rounds.

Summary of Sock Experiment - on US 1 - 2.25 mm needle:

  • light fingering - 60 stitches
  • fingering - 56 stitches
  • heavy fingering - 54 stitches

Adjust stitches if using smaller US 0 - 2.0 mm needle.
