I had an idea to knit a hat for my husband. My deadline was before the season began because I had a couple of patches I wanted to use.

The idea was simple but it had to be versatile. I didn’t want to design something so I thought through the possible search terms and looked for something that came close to the image in my head.

I was thrilled to see my knitting buddy created a pattern that nearly matched my needs.

I made a few modifications but her pattern is straightforward and easy to make. My version took a while because it is much bigger to accommodate the patches.

My husband loves it…and so do I.
