I altered the pattern quite a lot for both of these.

The better of the two has garter stitch instead of ribbing, and is joined at top and bottom around the handle. The top join is sewn (with a bow of wool for decoration) and the bottom join is a button and loop.

I didn’t do the middle stripe at all.
