JULY 3
Using the delicious Old Maiden Aunt! Yum Yum!
CO using simple cable cast on.
Finally got a neat look for the first nine stitches: new technique for me.

Then I researched the different ideas about the yarn overs, and how to get matching sized eyelet holes.
I decided to go with the advice here in the Ishbel-a-long group.
JULY 6
I Love this pattern…something enchanting about Ishbel…frogged once already after making a mistake and being too daunted to correctly knit back.
Already back to the final rows of the stockingette part: doing the large stockingette, and still wondering about whether to do the lace for the small or large size.

10 JULY
Finally onto the lace, think I’ll do the small lace pattern.
Row 1 of Part A, already run into problems! 7 stitches before the centre stitch instead of 8! What!

JULY 12
Finished Part A! The secret is counting out loud, banning children from speaking to you when you are knitting, and knitting only when toddler is asleep!

JULY 17
I put in a lifeline at the end of PART A. Will use thinner cotton for the next one, so that it is easier to slide the stitches along for the next row.

Planning to do the lace for the smaller version.
This yarn is so golden, i feel like I am knitting with golden thread knit by Rumpelstiltskin!

JULY 18
Ugghh! Something happened! I frogged back to the lifeline!
Back on PART B!
Driving me a bit crazy!

SEPT 3
Oh Ishbel, I love you, I really do! But I keep making mistakes!! and then frogging, and then trying again! Your golden sheen is slightly dimmer in light of my failures…but I continue. The yarn is too delicious, the pattern too perfect (if a little beyond my powers of concentration)
I have passed A, B, A and onto part C. I found one less stitch in row 3 and decided to KFAB to make the stitch count right and just continue. it really looks fine!

SECRET:

  1. Keep checking the PSSO’s stack up. If they don’t go back and find out what went wrong asap!
  2. On the purl row, double check the previous row’s pattern was right. I saves tinking a whole lot more when you discover the mistake in the next row!

SET 5
Part C is zooming along! It is a delight and so easy and repetitive, a reward at the end of the brain draining toil of the other parts!

Yay Finished!!
I gave it a gentle block so the points are softer than I intended, but I am happy with that. I love it!!!
