Crochet cast on, knit all from the right side. Why, oh why does the pattern suggest knitting the right side, cutting the yarn, turning around and purling the back side? No wonder people get confused.
First row, knit, slip, knit, slip.
Second row slip, knit, slip, knit.

It’s that simple.

If I ever knit this again, I’d steek it, though. Add a few plain knits in the middle, and just keep going… Added bonus of no loose edges or weirdly short fringe pieces.

9/14 - knit 4 rows. About 1” done.
9/15 - knit 7 rows. A bit over 1.5”.
9/16 - knit 4 rows. About 2”.
9/17 - 10 rows. Over half way!

9/19 - 4 rows
9/20 - 6 rows. 3.75”. 51
9/21 - 6 rows. 57
9/22 - 6 rows. 63
9/23 - 5 rows and bind off - 69 total, and just a bit over 5”
