Started the swatch on US 2 - too big! Switch to a US 1, better but I could still go smaller/tighter. I probably won’t though - if I go smaller, I’ll have to add more stitches to fit my size 11 feet. I’ll think about it…..

Cast on with a US 0 - it hurts to even think about it! But this yarn really deserves my best efforts so i had to do it. Got up to the first two lines of the chart and found that didn’t like my mods up to that point. Frogged and cast on again.

MODS: as of 10/19/11

Cast on 22 sts for each sock instead of 16. Continue increases as in pattern util there’s 72 sts per sock, then continue increases on insteps only until you have 76 sts per sock (knit St st on sole sides of socks - 36 sts for sole and 40 sts for instep). Haven’t yet decided what the new mod will be - more purls? more cables?

subbing the “german short row technique” in the most recent TWIR for the wrap-and-turn short rows for heel. Thanks, Rox!
Re-knit those heels at least 4 times!!! Eventually went with Cat Bordhi’s Sweet Tomato Heel and then went on.
DONE!! And they are SOOOOO nice! Better photos soon….
