Notes

I’ve named this project in honor of the boy in the film Hugo who spends much of his childhood unseen, while he keeps the clocks running at the train station in Paris. It’s a lovely film and a fanciful story.

I like the appearance of the tighter gauge for the smallest size, but need to add a bit of ease so I am adding 12 sts to what I cast on, which will translate into 2 extra sts for each stockinette panel around the entire vest. I will take 8 of these out at the armholes (back panels and either side front panel) and 4 out at the neck shaping for the center front. Otherwise, I will follow the instructions for the smallest size, but may decide to add some length before beginning the armhole shaping.

My first go with the pattern was with some gorgeous BFL, but the stitch definition was horrible, so I will use that lovely yarn for something else and shift to yarn with a much crisper character. I wasn’t thrilled with the color selection of the original yarn mentioned in the pattern so I’m hoping the KP WOTA will be suitable. Love this Sapphire Heather colorway.

I used a 4 stitch one-row button hole.

I used all but a wee bit of the 5 skeins. I even ordered another skein for peace of mind, but ended up not needing it.
