Notes

8/14/11: I finished the little Milo vest for baby Amelia…and I only just started it a week ago! Who knew vacation knitting could be this productive?
This is the second part of a two part project, the first part being the bigger Milo vest for big sister Adelaide which was finished in May. I wanted the girls to have little matching vests for Fall--the first set of matching garments I have knit for them. The cable pattern I chose was the X’s & O’s--for hugs and kisses from their Mimi! I knit Adelaide a size 3 in length and Amelia a size 9 months and hopefully these will fit them all winter. My daughter, son-in-law and the 2 precious girls will be moving to eastern Washington come September and the winters there are cold!
The yarn for these is a beautiful, locally dyed, washable Merino. I love the fact that Lyddie’s is striped and Millie’s pooled up differently. Matching….but not exactly! I changed the pattern up and added the picot bind offs to make them a bit more feminine.

5/18/11: Finished Adelaide’s Milo. I knit a size 2 with a size 3 length. I also added a picot hem, to girly it up a bit since my yarn is so not gender specific. I have a special hand painted owl button on order to put in the mucked up cable section.

Here is the video I used to learn the picot bind off--I love the videos Jimmy Beans Wool have put out on the internet.

This is a great, easy pattern with so many creative possibilities. I am still going to make Amelia a 6 month size but first I need to make a newborn size for a co-workers baby girl. The shower is next month.

5/10/11: updated progress photo

5/5/11: Received my yarn in the mail, but now I am getting more excited about the newborn Bloom on my needles--plus I am a little afraid to start the Milo….new patterns scare me!
I am excited about this yarn though--it is washable, soft, and will look gorgeous on my little red haired Grandy Girl, Adelaide. The little sister, 1 week old Amelia has strawberry blonde/ reddish hair and we are anxious to see what her hair does in the future.
