Notes

Irene Lin is way up there at the top of my list of favorite knitwear designers. LOVE everything her creative mind envisions, and her patterns are all easy to understand, top down and seamless. What more could anyone want?

I absolutely love this design - especially knit in this Hobbii Baby Cotton. It’s so soft and comfortable. You can throw it in a washing machine and dryer. Just be sure to allow for a small amount of shrinkage the first time you do this. My sweater shrank very little in width and only about an inch in length. It doesn’t even need any ironing when it comes out of the dryer, although ironing won’t hurt 100% cotton. I highly recommend this yarn. In fact, all of the Hobbii yarns are among my favorites when it comes to quality and affordability.

Needles used:

Size 4 US - Body and sleeves

Size 3 US - Neck and lower body ribbing

Size 2 US - Sleeve ribbing and normal bind-off round for lower body ribbing

Size 0 US - Normal bind-off round for sleeves

Note that the designer has decreased the number of stitches used for the sleeve ribbing in the final pattern so that the sleeve ribbing will fit tighter and allow for blousing.

When I cast on at the neck, I held a size 1.5 US needle together with the size 3 US needle because I have a large head and broad shoulders. I often do this just for the cast-on round to make sure it’s loose enough.

What I did differently:

Before starting the lower ribbing, I switched the BOR marker to the right side. I often so this because it makes the final bind-off point less noticeable if it isn’t perfect looking. Nobody will be able to tell that 1/4 of your ribbing as an extra “row” near the end.
