Notes

Yup - its Regia, so self patterning, not my favorite, but pleasant enough to wear and knit, and a good durable sock yarn for a kid. I bought this yarn in celebration a year ago after only being able to get it on line from overseas, and then i saw it in a LYS.

So far, I’ve traced Toby’s foot, he has long pointy toes, and I’ve cast on using the cast on for mittens from Anna Z’s magnificent mitten book, 6 stitches wide, knit 10 rows back and forth in stocking stitch, then pick up 6 down the long sides, pick up 4 across the end, 24 stitches, 6 on each needle, Increase 1 stitch 2 stitches in from each end top and bottom of sock - until 66 stitches … knit with some vague idea of using slip stitch or linen stitch as a decorative panel up the side or instep …Ive rotated the start so the 4 stitch wide seam runs up the middle of his foot - I should be able to work this into a deepening V as I add gusset stitches.

march - frogged, and i’m thinking about this pattern, Slip Stitch Striped Socks
March 18th - started again - this time with an idea from Slip Stitch Striped Socks, and its working - I love the idea of disruptive patterning - kind of subverting the very analytical and organized design of the yarn maker with the built in faux colourwork effects ….. photos soon I promise
