This blanket is for my cousin’s baby, who was unfortunately born prematurely and ultimately did not survive. Therefore it took me a long time to finish the blanket.

The color knitting is a pain for me; I will think twice about undertaking color-intensive projects again. It’s so pretty … and yet so annoying.

Update 13 Oct 2008: Finally finished. One of the problems with this project was that due to the color knitting (and my trying to work with yarn in each hand over the horizontal “plaid” rows), the front is a rather larger gauge than the back.

The only modifications I made to this pattern (other than the yarn substitution) were to use four strands of each color in the braid and to decrease the number of strands in the fringe to three.

I gave this project a smiley face, but I have trouble being really happy with it because of the emotional associations.
