Notes

I used a tubular cast-on. The tubular cast-on ends up looking like 2 rows of 1x1 rib; after that I knit 10 rows of real 1x1 rib (so it looks like I knit 12 rows of rib).

The tubular cast-on is very stretchy and doesn’t pull in at the top as much as ribbing usually does. Normally this results in a sort of flared top (which I don’t like), but here the ribbing edge is pretty narrow so it stays pleasingly in line with the rest of the sock leg (neither pulling in nor flaring out).

I did 32 full 2-row zigzag pattern reps for the leg and 36 reps for the foot (gusset to end of zigzag pattern).

I am not completely happy with the slipped stitches on the sides of the foot; they tend to pull the sock lengthwise. I might just leave that off if I do this patern again.

As the pattern warns, the socks don’t have a lot of stretch, so it’s tight to get them around my heel. But when they’re on, they fit perfectly!
