This is my new favorite accessory. I haven’t taken it off since it came off the blocking matts. The yarn color and pattern combination are so cozy, I can’t get enough. I’m enamored with the lacework and even enjoyed the nupps. I will admit that I caught myself purling together the stitch before or after a nupp into the nupp itself, but that is ok, because the decrease/increasing for the patterning made it easy to hide in the next row.

The pattern is well written and thoughtful. The change in needle size after the knit/purl pattern into the lace was genius. It gives the lace border wonderful drape and openwork.

I used a different yarn than called for in the pattern, and I’m really happy with my choice. The round, plumpness of the yarn, the colorway, and the extra sheen the silk within the wool gives this shawl amazing drape. I can’t wait to make another project with the Tern I have in my stash.

My gauge is also ever so slightly larger than called for in the pattern specs and was an intentional choice. My finished shawl is closer to 58 inches across the top, and 28 inches down the spine.

Knitting Peppernut is like starting my morning with a warm bowl of oatmeal. I think the combination of the yarn I’m using and the comfort of simple knit and purl in a fun combination are reassuring and a good way to start my day.

A row here and there before I dash out the door, and I’m getting to the lace by the end of the week.
