Started 6/1/10 :: it’s slow going but I have a few rows on the needles

6/10/10 :: Grrr…even though I’m working a seed stitch 5 rows around the edges, it’s STILL curling on me…maybe it’s the super lightweight DK???

CURLING SOLUTION - duh…just HAD to try to steam the edges before I went any farther…and IT WORKED!!! Flat as a board.

I placed a cotton cloth over the first few rows (on the ironing board) and gently steamed about 2 inches away…lifted the cloth once it cooled and wha-lah! (learned that this is called “killing” the acrylic)

6/13/10 :: 50% finished today!

6/17/10 :: 85% done…getting itchy to finish this as I decided to knit a cap and booties to go with the gift and I’m excited to start them! Stockinette gets boring after awhile :)

6/23/10 :: Finished!

I wove in the ends and did a quick wash/dry (instead of traditional blocking) and then “killed” it tonight using just the synthetic setting on the iron.

With a dishcloth over the blanket I gently steamed the entire blanket to shape…it did stretch a bit, but is folding nicely.

I’m happy with how my VERY FIRST finished knitted piece came out.

Knitted matching cap and elephant to go with the blanket for a gift.
