intswemodo #4
I’m really loving this design! And even more so loving the yarn! I hope it will wear ok!
The merino dk grew a little bit when I soaked it before blocking. I laid it out to dry flat over night, and the next morning, still damp, put it in the dryer on wool cycle for about 7 minutes. That pulled it together. Let it dry for a while longer after that.
This color on this base is amazing. I am so glad that I found this beautiful smock pattern that does it justice. A true jewel color.
Errata/Thoughts:
1) I think the symbol that says “slip one k-wise wyif” should read p-wise instead.
2) The text part on page 8, describing the chart in words on size M, is wrong. I had to rip it and work according to the chart instead.
3) I also think that the chart on the top of the sleeves is wrong on size M.
4) When you reach the seeded collar edge, the stitches don’t match to make a seed stitch, so I figured it out to make it look like seed stitch.
5) I did the r2 on the collar ribbing starting with sl1wiyf p-wise, as it is on the rest of the garment. I hope I’m doing it right.
6) As I am working the plackets, I realize that I’ve gotten the slip stitches mixed up throughout. I think the best thing to avoid that would be to make the instructions clearer. Since a lot of the pattern has slwiyf, I just kept doing that. Now I realize that sometimes the slipped stitches should be slipped with the yarn back.
7) after the fourth try, I gave up trying to understand the instruction for buttonholes and did them as I’ve always done them before. Had to do a little sewing for them to be small enough, so I’d make them with only one stitch if I’d knit this sweater again.
The stitch count didn’t match when I was doing the sleeve attachment, but after a lot of counting and decreasing and moving the markers around, I was fine.
