Making a boys size 8.
For Body:
CO 144.
Knit 2 inches in 2x2 rib.
Knit around, increasing 4 stitches evenly spaced (148 sts total).
Knit until body is total 14 inches.
For Sleeves:
CO 36.
Knit 1 inch in 2x2 rib.
Knit around, increasing 2 stitches evenly spaced (38 sts total).
Increased 2 sts about every 8 rows until 46 sts.
Knit even until sleeve measured 12 inches total.
Joining sleeves to body:
Placed 8 sts on waste yarn for each body and sleeves.
66 sts on each front and back (between sleeves). Worked decrease rounds until 24 sleeve sts (including marked sts) were left on each sleeve.
Saddle:
Worked saddle shoulders for 32 rows each. 24 sts on each sleeve, 16 sts left on each front and back.
Yoke:
Instead of casting off for the back yoke, I simply worked back and forth on back 12 sts of last shoulder. I slipped the first stitch on the side that would be the top of the yoke. I used the kitchner stitch to graft the 12 sts from the yoke to the 12 sts on the other side of the shoulder.
Neck:
Used 12 remaining live sts from each shoulder, 16 sts on front, and picked up 16 sts on back yoke for a total of 56 sts for neck. Worked about 1 inch in 2x2 rib.
I might try to end the saddle sooner next time to leave more stitches for the neck since I was doing a circular rib neck instead of a funnel neck.
I blocked the neck a little larger to make sure it fit. This yarn really softened up after wet blocking. It looks great!
Used every single bit of 5 skeins.
