Knit Picks Stroll Solids, Heathers & Twists

Dale bought an 1892 Gearhart Knitting Machine with a 72-stitch cylinder. There was no setup with it so I made this for him.

With DPNs, cast on 72 stitches, knit 6 rounds. (K2tog, yo) around. Knit one round. (K2tog, yo) around. Knit 6 rounds. Next round, pick up a stitch from the cast on edge and knit it together with the first stitch; then pick up the next cast on stitch and knit it together with the next stitch; repeat all the way around. Knit 2 rounds plain. Then (K7, K2tog) around. Knit 2 rounds plain. (K6, K2tog) around followed by 2 plain rounds. Keep decreasing this way until you have 8 sts. Then K2tog. Use these 4 sts to make about 1.5” of i-cord. Cut the yarn and pull the tail through the last sts. Then fold the i-cord over and sew it down. Weave in ends.

The i-cord loop is a perfect way to hang your weights for the csm.
