Notes

My second hat for this winter, since the cream smocked one is seeing a lot of wear and doesn’t always go with some outfits. Figured having a black one would be just as useful, plus this is a chance for me to start practicing mini cables!

2/24 - Easy pattern to follow and I picked up a couple of new stitches. However, I think the black ended up being a bit too dark to show the mini cables and my knitting was a bit too loose to make them very pronounced. So overall, this ended up having a very crocheted effect instead.

Still, it’s got a heftier feel to it than my previous stockinette tam. That, combined with the fact that I really needed something in black, means that it will see plenty of wear in the two months of freezing cold we still have left.

Would I do this again? Probably, but with smaller needles and a lighter color. I might get a tiny bit of shrinkage after the first wash, but I’m not holding my breath. Ribbing could have probably been tighter -- either a 2x2 or less, maybe.
