Mods I made for using the DK weight yarn:

cast on 118 sts
cowl section on the last row, work 50 stitches and have 34 stitches between the markers.

kerchief section on row 1 and all others repeat (k1,p1) 8 times. And on rows 3 & 4 (and others I worked k 16 (instead of k 12 or p 12)

I also worked worked selvedge edge decreases on the purl side 3 times to keep it from getting too long.
