Notes

These sweaters were so much fun to knit, and I predict they will get lots of wear - they go with everything!

Mods:

  • Added a ninth stripe for length.
  • Did applied i-cord around sleeve cuffs to match remainder of trim.
  • Matched applied i-cord color around neckline.
  • Used 3 buttons instead of i-cord ties.

Thoughts on sizing:
Even adding an extra stripe, and after blocking, the sleeves are just barely long enough. If I knit this size again, I would add a row or two to each stripe on the sleeves after dividing for the body, or another stripe to each sleeve. The width is pretty consistent with the 4T commercial sweaters we own.

9/12: Done. It still needs to be blocked. I’m not so sure about the sizing…even with an extra stripe the sleeves are really too short. Keeping my fingers crossed that it will behave like superwash wools often do and grow a bit when it hits the water!

8/15: The body is done. Mods: added a ninth stripe (butter peeps). Still did 10 rows per stripe.

8/1: I have plenty of yarn to make both the 4 and 6 year old sizes - matching little girl sweaters!

Having read a few of the helpful notes on the larger sizes, I’m definitely going to add Butter Peeps (leftover from Anna’s blanket) to both sweaters to lengthen them a bit…
