This came out very well. I was worried that it was going to be way too long (I did add a little length), but with some careful blocking it’s just right!
Mods/Notes:
- Changed placement of waist cables: worked 12 extra rows before back cable pattern, and 12 less after it; back is 121 rows total to armhole shaping; worked 10 extra rows before front cable pattern, and 10 less after it and matched number of rows before armholes with back to figure out where to start the neck shaping
- Row gauge was off so I needed about an inch more on the left and right fronts before the shoulder cable sections: I did 5 rows between decreases instead of 3 rows for the last 4 decreases (8 extra rows, so about 1 extra inch)
5/6/13:
Going into hibernation for the rest of the spring and early summer. I’ll drag it back out in July sometime and try to figure out exactly how I messed up the front shaping on the first shoulder.
2/27/13:
Cast on for 36. I know I want to make some changes to the placement of the back cable section (make it higher) and I know I want the vest a little longer, so I’ll have to do some figuring out …
2/22/13:
Gauge:
US 7s - 21 sts & 28 rows = 4” (unblocked)
US 7s - 18 sts & 30 rows = 4” (blocked)
US 6s - 23 sts & 30 rows = 4” (unblocked)
US 6s - 21 sts & 32 rows = 4” (blocked)
I like the fabric on the sixes, so I’ll knit the 36, cross my fingers, and figure out the length as I go.
