What a fun change of pace making these elves and stars after Christmas. For both projects, simply changing the yarn and needle or hook will change the size. I think these would look pretty on a tree, wreath or as a package decoration.

The crochet stars were a delight…and an easy pattern to memorize.

The large elf was done on a 3.5mm needle with one strand each of the shimmer and cream yarns. For the face, the flesh tone yarn was held double.

The smaller elf was done on 2.75mm needles with one strand of shimmer and one strand of flesh tone.

Rather than knit two panels for each elf, I continued in plain stockinette after the beard reducing by two stitches in two rows making sure to knit a panel long enough to sew to the base of the hat on the back. I also seamed each side. This covers the beard and flesh tone panel and makes the ornament a bit more sturdy.
