OMG! This pattern was lust at first sight! And my first skirt. If 2011 was the year of the sweater, I do believe 2012 will be the year of the skirt/dress.
Since most of the skirt is simply a 14 stitch, 18 row repeat (until the hip decreases), there isn’t much to report. The MCN Sport is luscious as always. The rich colors make me smile.
12/13/11: About to finish the 4th repeat. I will be adding two more repeats (for a total of 6) to get this below the knee.
12/25/11: 6 repeats completed and moving on to hip decreases.
1/2/12: The stranding is finished. My gauge loosened up, so near the end (perhaps too near the end?) I went down a needle size. So I hope the waist won’t be too big. Anyway, I’m working on the facings now and have hopes of binding off tonight! UPDATE: Knitting finished. Now to block, sew, steek and zip!
Mods/Notes:
- Two additional pattern repeats
- Gauge loosened up a bit, so following decreases as written
- After binding off for zipper/steek stitches, the first repeat will only be 12 sts not 14, so first two stitches in the chart should be ignored
- Chart A is 18 rows, Chart B, decrease chart, is 35 rows. Row 1 of Chart B corresponds to Row 2 of Chart A and is interspersed throughout (2 sets of front decreases, 2 sets of back decrease.) So while they do line up at the end, just pay attention that Chart A will always be a row ahead of Chart B.
- Omitted button
