Backstory

I’ve been in a bit of a knitting slump - a series of unfortunate events meant that I had a bit of a round with lack of mojo.

I cast on eleventy different things during this time, but nothing gelled.

I finally realized that I was casting on things I needed to knit, or trying to finish projects I’d started, when what I really wanted was to knit something frivolous and pointless and not at all like anything anyone around me needed.

So I cast this on, and I gave myself lots of time and grace, and every time I got frustrated with myself for not being as productive as I normally am, I reminded myself that it was ok to just be, and if all I got knit was one row in a day, that was ok.

And so I knit some healing into this shawl, and added pretty sparkly beads, and practiced kindness to and mindfulness for myself. I grieved some and I raged some and I cried some and some nights I just sat and held this instead of knitting on it…but it’s finally done, and I feel much better.

I’m not sure that I’ll give this away, and I know for sure I won’t wear it (seriously, light sparkly pink is.not.me.) but I may take it for a whirl at a fair over the summer. :-)
