Finally came to the conclusion that for the sake of the socks well being I really needed to rip out a few rows in order to make them fit my foot length better. I’m removing 13 rows but ripping back the toe plus some rounds. My new toe is a bit stubbier, so I only need to remove 8 plain rounds, then I’ll start the toe decreases. Thankfully the foot and toe being plain stockinette made it very easy to thread a size 0 needle through the appropriate round and rip back to where I want safely.

Finished the new toes on 4/1 during our Easter get together, and now the socks fit like a dream. I’m very glad I took the time to change them.

Gauge measured on plain stockinette:
17.5 sts = 2” (8.75 sts/in)
25 rows = 2” (12.5 rows/in)
