Wonderful yarn to work with. Bouncy and squishy, with a firm hand and lovely smooth texture. It does have a little tendency to split so don’t use too sharp needles. The finished product is elastic and very warm.

4.0mm needles for hat and 5.0 for cowl.

• want extra warmth over my ears so I’m following this example and making the ribbing long enough to turn up: 14 r ribbing, 1 r plain, another 14 r ribbing (on last r of ribbing used TECHknitter’s trick for a neater transition to stockinet),
• knit 11 pattern repeats before starting decreases,
• decreased in pattern up until decrease r 9,
• instead of pattern’s used this cdd: slip 2 knitwise slip 1 knitwise knit these 3 together through the backloop.

Mods cowl

• cast on 128 st,
• ribbing 1x1 for 6 r (with last r worked as above),
• knit 114 pattern repeats,
• ribbing 1x1 for 6 r (with first r worked as above).
