For History of Magic 2010: Archeological Tool -
When going into the Chamber of Secrets as an over-eager firstie Ravenclaw, I was shocked at how cold it was down there, and promptly got sick. I sent an OWL to my mother who first sent a howler reminding me that I should always keep my neck warm and be prepared, as I have a history of losing my voice and strep and figure out a way to keep my neck warm without the bulk of a scarf.
Enter the Ptarmigan. Got the pattern when I was at the Lion Brand Yarn Store talk with Jared Flood. Love it! The yarn I used for it has been sitting in my stash for three years - I bought it just before I left Japan. I think this goes great with my camel-colored winter coat.
The directions got me a little confused, it says to do rows 1-24 of Chart A and then nothing about rows 25-32 in which you ended up with the decrease from 24 to 20 stitches; I completed Chart A then went to Chart B and then rows 1-5 of Chart B as directed, so I’m assuming the pattern just really means to complete Chart A.
This yarn blocked like crazy and got really loose after drying - I think if I do this pattern again, I would only steam block it to relax the pattern a bit.
Going to give it to my mother’s friend Katina - she saw me knitting it and loved it.
