I’ve written exhaustively about my knitting process in general and then there’s my list of grievances concerning the pattern, if that helps anyone.

I’d love to rate this, but I simply don’t know how. The Spanish Tile in the middle is a little tricky because it patterns on every row, but apart from that none of the stitch patterns used are difficult, they’re just extremely badly charted. The finished shawl is gorgeous, but I couldn’t with a clean conscience give this more than two stars. Whatever you do, I recommend avoiding this as your first lace project as I fear it’ll put you off lace for life, and that would be just sad.

In fact, the only chart that does show how the pattern’s supposed to line up is the second-to-last (and presumably the very last one, but I skipped that one, in favor of a knitted-on-sideways lace edging courtesy of Utlinde). If you’re into written directions, you might have more fun with this.

Added one leaf repeat to the Print o’ the Wave, and one and a half nubbs to the English Mesh.

I finished this with major fudging on the last quarter – gradually switching down to 2.25 needles, and doing about half of the last corner because I was fast running out of yarn. As it is now, I had two tiny, 1cm stubs after weaving in. Incredible. Edging took 35g with fudging, would’ve realistically taken at least 38g just to be on the safe side.

Used Fleegle’s Cast-On for Circular Shawls, which is genius if you do it right and an endless source of frustration if you do it wrong five times (ask me how I know).
