Notes

3.5mm - tubular cast on (cable cast on alternating bw knit and purl, then slip purl sts in first 2 rows)
3.75mm - ribbing
4.5 - vest

8 rows ribbing
short row shaping for the shoulders

full chart - 28gm
front - 104gm (2 skeins)
back - 121gm (2.4 skeins)

  • only 1 edge st before decreasing for sleeve edges

30 aug - look at that, a whole month of trepidation. and then i just did it. 3 sts for every 4 on the diagonal, one for one on the back neck. on row 2, 4 and cast-off row worked s2kpsso (and actually slip 2, purl, pass the slipped sts over on row 4) at point in v-neck. cast off in rib at regular tension on diagonals, a little tighter even on back neck bc i was worried about that being too loose, too many rib sts for the neckline width. whole things lies flat so am hopeful that it’s ok.
29 jul - left armhole ribbing done. 86sts. Finished knitting ribbing on right, need to cast off and weave in ends. Then the neckline. Ugh, trepidation.
27 jul - all seamed, weaving in ends
25 jul - left shoulder done.
24 jul - just the left shoulder shaping to do on the front! but way too tired tonight.
23 jul - split for v-neck; third full rpt done (plus a row) for right side. Finished fourth ball of yarn. So, 27 rows to shoulder shaping and 8 more neck decreases to do.
22 jul - second full rpt complete. i do hope i can get to the underarms tomorrow - that’s 3/4 of a rpt away so should be able to …
21 jul - one rpt done. Used up third ball on first row of next rpt.
20 jul - cast on for front, k 6 rows
17 jul - finished those 4 rows on the bus and train and finished first shoulder shaping and cast off while waiting for my morning hot chocolate. Finished other shoulder at lunch. 32gm left of ball three.
16 jul - finished row 24 of fourth full chart but just beat. time for bed. will start back neck and shoulder shaping after 4 more rows.
15 jul - third full chart complete, still 3.7gm of second ball. finished second ball at end of row 5 of fourth chart rpt (exactly one full chart frm casting off for the underarm!). armhole measures 4” deep.
14 jul - second full chart complete; further five rows and four rows of armhole shaping.
13 jul - halfway through second full chart
12 jul - finished initial partial chart. at row 12 complete of next chart measures just over 4” which will be ok. 14gm of ball left so ribbing and one chart used 36gm. and, brainwave!! bc i’m concerned about how much yarn the vest will use up, bc i want to knit a circlet cowl with the remainder, i’ll knit the back plain. yay! or not, gauge would be different … anyway, finished first full chart rpt, so 44 rows. finished first ball of yarn partway through row 28.
9 jul - started chart on row 13, have knit row 21
8 jul 17 - queued 7 years ago. goodness. cast on today.
