Sock Summit 2009 Dye for Glory Voting Booth

Portland Rain is a light mix of purples, greys and browns. These light, airy colors remind me of how the world looks after a morning rain. This yarn is 100% superwash merino sock yarn with a wonderful twist.

Created ‘specially for Sock Summit, this is a delightful blend of deep purple passion fruit and sweet strawberries amidst deep teal with a bit of butterscotch topping.

Inspired by the beautiful contrast in the Mt. Rainier landscape, and created for Sock Summit 2009. Mt. Rainier will be available at the Knit-A-Bit booth (#808) at Sock Summit.

Peacocks are an animal that keep coming up for me. The colors of their feathers are a bit elusive but I’ve done my best to capture them in this yarn. Booth #223.

Brand New Colorway for Sock Summit 2009 Ivy Brambles “A Day At The Beach” will be available at The Cherry Tree Hill Booth (715, 717, 719) and dyed on Cherry Tree Hill’s Supersock Select Light Fingering yarn.

This colorway is the companion to ‘Charlene’ and was inspired by the cooler colors in the Sock Summit logo. These colors make me think of distant mountain peaks. This is another entry in the Dye For Glory Sock Summit contest for dyers. Come see this colorway in person in Booth 919.

This colorway makes me think of mountains and lakes and was specially created for Sock Summit. This is a new yarn which will be available in many colorways. The Cabin Fever colorway will be available in many of our yarns. We are in Booth 825 at Sock Summit.

Stargazer is the first of a series of colorways inspired by the matchless gathering of teachers and talented artisans at Sock Summit 2009.

Stargazer has deep, saturated purples, black, blues and turquoise that is reminiscent of a moonless sky peppered with brilliant stars.

This colorway is inspired by the desert, arches, canyons and hoodoos in beautiful colorful Utah, and was designed for Sock Summit Dye For Glory - My Journey to Sock Summit 2009. I will be traveling from my home near Fort Garland in Southern Colorado, through Utah, Idaho and finally Oregon.

Ebullient is soft and smooth, made of 75% superwash merino and 25% nylon. This colorway was made by dipping the yarn into the dye pots for multiple colors. Raspberries and Chocolate is a blend of some of my favorite fall colors!

Frog Creek Fibers is local to the Portland area and we will be in booth 129 near the luncheon area.

Sock Summit Dye for Glory submission – Dipped category. (Booth #315)

Dyed on Glenhaven Cashmerino (available Fall 2009) in shades of deep cobalt blue, amber, and amethyst – we used a special dipping technique that will create random color variation.

Another colorway created specially for Sock Summit contest Dye for Glory. This one, called Abalone, is competing in the dipped category. Many of my colors, such as the one, take inspiration from the Northern California coast.

All colors on the skein were created by natural dyes. I mixed the brown color, and then the purple color, dipped the the 1/3 of skein in each color, and kept 1/3 white, then heated. I, then dipped a portion of the skein in a natural indigo vat. By dipping portions of the white portion of the skein into the indigo vat, we get a beautiful blue. I also dipped portions of the purple and brown into the indigo vat - which creates small overlays of blue-purple - and navy. Other natural dyes used: logwood grey, logwood purple, and cochineal.
