Apokalókairo is the Greek word for the last days of summer and the first days of early fall. This time of the year is so beautiful in my homeland, the weather is still warm, but not too hot and it can be windy and cool in the evenings, so you might just need a light, airy shawl to cover your shoulders from the cool, summer breeze. One skein of fingering weight yarn will give you a quite wide shawl, because it is worked at a very loose gauge. This pattern is ideal for beginners in shawl knitting and for those who want to make the best of a special skein of hand dyed yarn. This crescent shaped shawl could very well be worked using a DK or even Aran yarn, but in this case you would need more than 2 skeins. It is in my plans to knit another sample using a heavier weight yarn so we will soon know how much yarn is needed in this case. I hope you enjoy knitting and wearing this versatile and very quick-to-knit crescent shawl and cannot wait to see the pictures of your projects!
