This shawl was designed for Avalon Springs Farm and was inspired by their love of the Arthurian legends. The lace pattern is reminiscent of an owl’s face and is named after Merlin’s owl, Archimedes. While the lace border requires a bit of attention on the right side, the wrong side is mainly purled. The finished size is easily adjustable by repeating the final chart as many times as you wish.

The samples were knit with Pendragon Sport from Avalon Springs. You will need two 113g skeins or one 8 oz skein. The gold sample was knit in the Old Coins colorway and the green was knit in The Green Lord colorway. While the samples were knit in Pendragon Sport , this pattern could also be knit in fingering weight. It works well with solids, semi-solids, and lightly speckled yarns.
