My avocado scarf pattern is finally here! I originally posted a photo of the original avocado scarf in April 2009, and I finally wrote up this pattern in 2022! It was basically my pear scarf pattern with some changes, but in working this project again this year, I ended up changing the pattern a little bit, so now it’s still very similar to the pear scarf, but not exactly identical.

Each avocado is worked in rows and then 2 rounds as an outline, so if you’re a beginner who is comfortable with working in rows and easy rounds, this project is for you. You can decide how many avocado halves and wholes you want in your scarf, and how many halves have avocado pits or don’t. Feel free to do it your own way. It’s super easy to make this scarf longer or shorter depending on how many avocados you make.

You will need to know how to work in rows, work in rounds, single crochet, half double crochet, sc2tog, and be prepared for lots of seaming.

You’ll be working in worsted weight yarn.
