Basketcase jumper
The Basketcase jumper is a cosy and slightly cropped jumper, knitted in super chunky wool so it comes together super quickly! It’s perfect for an advanced beginner knitter and the pattern is written in a very beginner-friendly way.
The jumper is knitted in two separate panels (front and back of the body) which are then seamed together, and a collar added. The sleeves are then picked up and knitted in the round.
Materials needed:
12mm knitting needles + 12mm circular knitting needles for the collar and sleeves
Yarn needle for weaving in loose ends
Skeins of recommended wool (200g/80m)
S: 6 (M: 7) L: 7 (XL: 7) 2XL: 8 (3XL: 8)
Recommended wool:
This pattern has been created and tested using Crazy Sexy Wool by Wool and the Gang, and The Wool by We are Knitters, but you can use any suitable super chunky yarn alternative, provided it matches the recommended gauge.
Gauge for stockinette stitch on 12mm needles:
10cm x 10cm = 8 stitches, 10 rows
Sizing:
S: Length: 44cm, width: 48cm, sleeve (underarm to cuff): 42cm
M: Length: 48cm, width: 59cm, sleeve (underarm to cuff): 48cm
L: Length: 52cm, width: 59cm, sleeve (underarm to cuff): 48cm
XL: Length: 52cm, width: 66cm, sleeve (underarm to cuff): 48cm
2XL: Length: 56cm, width: 74cm, sleeve (underarm to cuff): 54cm
3XL: Length: 60cm, width: 82cm, sleeve (underarm to cuff): 54cm
Please note I did not have test knitters for sizes 2XL and 3XL, so if you would like to knit the jumper in one of those sizes please send me a message via Etsy and I will send you the pattern for free for that size to test knit, as you’d be doing me a favour!
